Lobes Of The Brain

Occipital Lobe:

  • Located in the posterior section of the brain.
  • Input from optic nerve (used for sight)
  • Outputs to parietal and temporal lobes

Temporal Lobe:
  • Contains primary auditory cortex (hearing)
  • Inputs are auditory and visual patterns (speech recognition, word recognition, face recognition, memory formation)


Parietal Lobe:
  • Inputs from multiple senses: touch, temperature, pressure, pain and head
  • Outputs to the frontal lobe




Frontal Lobe:

  • contains primary motor cortex
  • No direct sensory input
  • Involved in planning, personality, problem solving, morality and thought
